Keep in mind that if you are under 18 years of age, you will need to wait 6 months from the date your permit was issued before you can take a road test.

We offer the Pre-licensing Course (previously known as the 5-hour course) over zoom in two sessions. Each session is 2.5 hours long. For more info and to sign up, click here

Road Test results are available online at https://roadtestresults.nyrtsscheduler.com/ by 6:00pm on the day you take the road test. In rare cases, results may be delayed until the following business day at 8:15am.

The New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) stopped giving road test results on-site to protect examiner safety and prevent confrontations.

• Safety and Security: The policy change was introduced in the second half of 2021 following instances of verbal and physical attacks, threats, and assaults by dissatisfied test-takers after being told they failed.

WARNING: This video depicts acts of violence.

• De-escalation: Delaying the results gives applicants time and space to process the outcome away from the testing site, reducing roadside confrontations.

• How to Check Results: Examiners now hand test-takers a card with instructions to check their score online at the New York DMV Road Test Results Portal after 6:00 PM on the day of the road test.
